Composite and Porcelain Veneers in Frankston

Composite Veneers and Porcelain Veneers are both beautiful and are an easy way to enhance your smile! Dental veneers are used regularly to improve a person’s smile that may consist of crooked, cracked or chipped teeth, gaps, discoloration, and enamel defects.

COMPOSITE VENEERS

Composite veneers can be applied in one dental appointment and generally only last up to 4 to 8 years. Due to the nature of the resin material they require regular maintenance and care as they are acceptable to staining and chipping. An Appliance during the night (Occlusal Splint) should be worn to help protect your teeth.

The material used is composite resin (white filling material) and is directly placed on the tooth and set with a blue light. The resin is placed on the tooth in layers to achieve an aesthetically pleasing result. The cost is typically about half of a porcelain restoration.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain Veneers are durable and are made of very thin slices of porcelain that have a very life-like appearance whilst reflecting light just like a natural tooth. Porcelain veneers last 12-25 years and rarely require maintenance. Porcelain Veneers are generally completed in two dental visits, the first visit we will take an impression of the prepared teeth and this sent to our Australian owned, Melbourne based dental laboratory where they hand design your custom-made porcelain veneers. In some cases we may place temporary, plastic veneers on your prepared teeth until the veneers are finalised and ready to be cemented.

The second dental visit for your porcelain veneers at our Frankston dental clinic is where we try then final veneers in your mouth and are checked for accurate fitting as well as shape and colour. Once you are happy with the shape, appearance and/or colour , the veneers are cemented in place with a strong bonding resin cement and your beautiful and aesthetically pleasing smile is all complete.
